Looking for some serious summer hairstyle inspiration? No secrets here, as always, Hollywood is rich with hot new looks. Can you say adorable pixie? Cropped cuts totally rule in Hollywood or retro inspired looks. It seems like almost every week another major star makes an entrance with a cute pixie haircut, a long wavy cut, or some in-between do. Check out some of the hot looks we've seen on the celebs lately, from barely-there pixies, to shoulder-grazing glamour.
How's This For Short and Sassy?
Here's Anne Hathaway with an elegant, sleek style that features a very deep side part which is something we're seeing a lot of this summer. Deep side parts are so chic right now and you can rock them with a hot pony, a low bun or the super pin straight look. Let your stylist help you pick out a deep side part that works best for your hair type and face shape.
To add outrageous shine, try Aveda Brilliant Spray-On Shine, one of my go-to products. If you find that flyaways present a problem, try using Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid.
Best Face Shapes For Pixie Cuts
Almost any face shape from a heart to an oval with highly defined cheek bones or a round face can carry off a pixie look. Oval faces are oh so lucky because they can carry off any pixie style. Heart shaped faces should make sure that the hair around the curved 'heart' shape is shorter for better balance. With a round shaped face, the sides and the back should be much shorter than the hair on top. And with a longer face shape, the hair on top should be shorter than the hair on the sides and back.
Pixie Girls take note: maintenance is super important! Plan on seeing your stylist every four to six weeks, to keep the look from getting away from you. Whether your hair is fine, or full of body, a pixie can work. So does a pixie cut have your name on it?
Long Wavy Cuts
Take a look at actress Kat Graham and her long, sexy wavy cut. These long cascading waves have the look of old-Hollywood elegance and glamour. This summer, any retro Gatsby inspired look is going to have you on the cutting edge of what's happening on the style scene.
Best face shapes for this look include oval, long, round, and heart shaped.
Maintenance Tips: Check in with your stylist at least every four weeks for a trim and deep conditioner. The very last thing you need is dry, frizzy ends.
Check out the Aveda Pure Abundance line for a healthy look and feel, along with instant body.
Summer is the time for experimenting with new looks, so step out of your comfort zone and try something a little different from your same old, same old.
