The Christmas masses are fairly predictable. They’ll be shopping in department stores, toy stores, restaurants, and malls. You could join them - or you could go a different route this year! There are a lot of places all over the Dallas area that are perfect for Christmas shopping. They’ll be less crowded, but the gifts you’ll find will be unique and will likely make a lasting impression.
Try these seven places in Dallas and its suburbs for a fun and unconventional shopping experience.
1) Run On!
Just down the road from our Coppell location there’s Run On!, an athletic store. It might not be on your initial radar for Christmas gifts, but it should be.
Run On! is primarily a shoe store. The staff are equipped to match you with a shoe style by giving you a “gait analysis” test, which identifies the motion of your feet as you walk.
The store also sells race timing devices, sleeves, and training for specific races. The recipient of your gift can choose a race goal for themselves (marathon, half-marathon, etc.) and have knowledgeable trainers guide and motivate them towards that goal.
2) Brightside Boutique
We have another location inside The Shops at Highland Village. When you walk out of our place looking beautiful, it’s a short distance to great Christmas shopping at Brightside Boutique.
Brightside has the accessory, cosmetic, and apparel brands you love: Vera Bradley, Merle Norman, and Doubled Ranch. They also have a Wish List that your loved one can fill out, so you won’t have to guess at what they want. Or buy a gift card and tell the recipient that they can hire a Brightside personal shopper to help them pick out the optimum outfit.
3) The Nosey Dog
Convention says Christmas is about humans, but who wants to be conventional?
The Nosey Dog has stores all around Dallas, including Highland Village. They offer salon-style pampering for your pup. That means everything: a bath, massage, blow dry, clipping, and pedicure, without putting your pet anywhere near a cage.
The place is also a store, one that sells holistic dog food and treats.
4) Oil & Vinegar
Located at Watters Creek, Oil & Vinegar is an innovative and interactive Gourmet Specialty Retail concept filled with a vast range of exclusive or private labeled products made from the highest quality ingredients.
Sample oil, vinegar and spices while you shop for packaged gift sets or individual items - perfect for the foodie on your list!
5) A Tiny Hiney Baby Boutique
Sure, the name’s funny and cute, but the store itself is great too!
The boutique has an adorable selection of stuffed animals, baby and toddler clothes, and other baby accessories. Online and in store, you’ll find cardigans, bathings suits, plaid shirts, and even a fancy baby bath robe.
6) Rich Hippie
Rich Hippie is bright, fun Dallas boutique; you might enjoy walking between its pink walls as much as your loved one enjoys getting the gift.
The store sells accessories, apparel, fragrances, jewelry, and more. Check out their own candles, or graffiti belts, or their sleek turtlenecks and button-up blouses.
Here’s a list of the designers they carry.
7) Remote Control Hobbies
Should you try this hobby store? The answer’s simple, if you have kids (or kids at heart): absolutely!
The store sells tons of remote control brands, including Flyzone, Heli-Max, and Duratrax.
Go Your Own Way
Defy convention (and the masses) and try a few new shopping spots this year. Your favorite grown-ups, babies, and canines will appreciate the effort you put into getting them something special!
